How a residential renovation unfolds with BB Carpentry

Every renovation follows the same structured process. The planning phase does more work than the construction phase. That is intentional.

Everything resolved before Day 1
All selections confirmed, budget locked, permits secured, and engineering approved before demolition begins.
02 — Construction
Three formal checkpoints, weekly updates
Documented stop-and-verify checkpoints before demolition, before walls close, and before handover.
03 — Handover
Signed off before the final invoice
Full walkthrough, photo archive of everything behind your walls, all warranty documentation.

How a documented framework prevents the failures that make renovations painful

Most renovation problems are not surprises. They are the predictable result of a process that was never disciplined enough to prevent them.

Pillar 02 — Design
The problem: decisions made under pressure
Every layout decision is made during the planning phase at your pace, with full cost transparency.
Pillar 03 — Finishes
The problem: finishes that degrade within five years
Every material is cross-referenced against our durability standards before presentation.
Pillar 04 — Infrastructure
The problem: mechanical work that creates future problems
All mechanical routing is designed and sequenced before finishes, not retrofitted around them.
Pillar 06 — Tradesmanship
The problem: defects that get covered instead of fixed
Defective work is corrected before it is covered — the most serious breach of our standard.
Pillar 07 — Communication
The problem: not knowing what is happening to your home

Residential renovation questions answered

Whole-home renovation costs vary based on size, existing systems, structural scope, and finish level. A focused renovation typically starts around $60,000 to $100,000; a full gut renovation of a mid-sized home generally runs $150,000 to $350,000. We provide a fully locked budget during planning so there are no surprises once construction begins.
Planning typically runs 6 to 10 weeks. Active construction runs 3 to 6 months depending on scope. Your complete timeline is confirmed in writing before we mobilize.
Yes. Permit procurement and inspection management are part of our standard process. Construction does not begin until the permit is issued and confirmed.
Depends on scope. For renovations affecting one or two rooms, staying in place is usually workable. For whole-home gut renovations, temporary accommodation is often necessary. We give you an honest picture during the planning call.
A general contractor takes legal and operational responsibility for the entire project, managing all subcontractors and carrying primary insurance. BB Carpentry operates as a licensed GC on every project — one person, one contract, one point of accountability.
